Cpl. Matthew J. Emerson was an infantryman with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Delta Company in the United States Army when he died in the Ninewah Province of Iraq on September 18, 2007.

 

Matt was greeted by his family when he arrived back home the morning of September 23.  He was escorted from Pasco to Sunnyside by his family and hundreds of Patriot Guard Riders.

 

Services honoring Matt's life were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Church of the Nazarene in Grandview, Washington followed by a full military burial  at the cemetery in Prosser, Washington next to his maternal grandfather.  Hundreds of family, friends, and community members were in attendance to honor our fallen hero Matt.
